Priya Bowering named All-Australian, Harriet Bingley wins Devils MVP after National Development Championships – U16 Girls

After a stellar showing at the 2023 AFL National Development Championships, Tasmania Devils star Priya Bowering has been named to the U16 Girls All-Australian Team.

While Tasmania split their two games with a win and a loss, Bowering starred across both games, averaging 23.5 disposals (14.5 contested), five clearances and four marks per game. A mainstay in the Devils Talent League Girls side over the last two seasons, her experience shone through as she played with a hard edge at the stoppages and showed composure beyond her years.

The All-Australian side was selected by a panel comprising Kevin Sheehan (AFL Talent Ambassador – Chair), Tarkyn Lockyer (AFL National Academy Coach/Manager), Tanya Hetherington (AFL Talent Development Coach), Jess Smith (AFL National Female Talent Manager) and AFLW club recruiters Phoebe Carter (Sydney Swans), Jordan Loxley (West Coast Eagles), Trent Moseby (Richmond) and Anthony Tang (St Kilda).

The All-Australian team features players from seven different teams, with Bowering the lone Tasmanian representative.

The Team MVP awards from the championships have also been named, with forward Harriet Bingley claiming top honours for the Devils. Team MVP winners were selected by the coaching staff of each program.

Bingley was named best afield in a win over the Northern Territory after booting a game-high four goals, and she was again listed in Tasmania’s best players against the Gold Coast Suns Academy. With strong hands overhead and at ground level, she was a constant threat in both games.
